Someone I can talk to

Someone I can trust.

Someone who will be there

When my relationships rust.

Someone who will save me,

When everything goes wrong.

Someone who will comfort me

And help me to be strong.

Someone who listens

At any time of day.

Someone who will brighten

Any sky that’s gray.

Someone who will always

Want to be my friend.

Someone who will fight for me,

Until the bitter end.

Someone who will cry with me

Whenever I am sad.

Someone who will laugh with me

Whenever I am glad.

Someone who will understand

My every weird emotion.

Someone who will always be

At my side with their devotion.

Someone who will always think

Of me before themselves.

Someone who will care for me

And put their own worries onto shelves.

Someone who will always let

Me act like the true me.

Someone who will always be

Just like I want to be

Someone who will always remain

Incredibly beautiful and true-

Someone who is my best friend.

Someone just like you.

Not lit by that first love. 

Stripped of love, the universe

Would drive us mad with pain;

But we are born into a world

That greets our cries with joy.

Than have a happy day.

Within those words lie lots of things

We never get to say. 

It means I love you first of all,

Then thanks for all you do.

It means you mean a lot to me,

And that I honor you. 

But most of all, I guess it means

That I am thinking of

Your happiness on this, your day,

With pleasure and with love.

Were daughters and mothers

Not so long ago.

We give and take

Love is passed

To be passed on again:

A precious heirloom

Twice, twice blessed,

A spiritual cardigan.

The me I have received,

Reverse again,

What "Mother" Means

"Mother" is such a simple word,

But to me there’s meaning seldom heard.

For everything I am today,

My mother’s love showed me the way.

I’ll love my mother all my days,

For enriching my life in so many ways.

She set me straight and then set me free,

And that’s what the word "mother" means to me.

Thanks for being a wonderful mother, Mom!
